About Us

Where confident leaders are made, and fair workplaces are built.

Industrial Relations Learning began with a simple belief:

When leaders understand how to support their people, workplaces become safer, fairer and more productive.

But that belief didn’t come from theory. It came from lived experience.

Our Story

Since September 2023, Susie Weston has been the Director of Industrial Relations LearningSusie, an IR/HR specialist, has spent the past 25 years career navigating the Australian industrial relations landscape. Susie has worked in the not‑for‑profit sector, where resources are tight and the clients served and people matter deeply. She has worked inside government, where process, accountability and public trust shape decisions. She has consulted with businesses, helping leaders manage performance, resolve disputes, conduct workplace investigations and build capability and engagement with their teams.  And she has worked in Unions, giving her a deep understanding of issues from employee perspectives.

This breadth of experience gives Susie a rare, 360‑degree understanding of how workplace issues unfold—and how they can be resolved with clarity, confidence, and respect. She has seen what happens when performance conversations are avoided, when disputes escalate, and when leaders feel unsure of their obligations. She has also seen the transformation that occurs when leaders are equipped with the right knowledge and skills.

Susie knows that a well planned and executed industrial relations strategy is essential to help your business thrive.

What We Do

Industrial Relations Learning specialises in helping leaders, HR professionals, and business owners navigate the complexities of the Australian industrial relations system.

Our courses are:

  • Online and self‑paced, designed for busy people who need flexibility
  • Practical and grounded, built from real‑world experience, not theory
  • Focused on capability, giving learners tools they can use immediately

Our IR101 series, was originally co-authored by Theresa Moltoni and Susie Weston in 2011 and has continued to be updated as the Australian industrial relations legislative framework continues to change. It covers every aspect from performance improvement to handling negotiations and dispute resolution, making agreements to conducting workplace investigations, our content is designed to build leaders who can support their workers to improve, communicate with confidence, and make fair, defensible decisions.

While our online modules offer a complete learning experience, we also understand that some organisations need something more personalised. That’s why we also offer tailored in‑house delivery, adapting our content to your context, your challenges, and your people.

Because every workplace is different—but the need for fairness, clarity, and confident leadership is universal.
